To secure and cultivate such peace we need to love others even our enemies as well as our friends. howa r d w hu N T e r Archaeological evidence shows that the primordial pattern for human beings is to gather together in relatively tightly knit clan-sized groups closely aligned with nature. Today we need consciously to reinvent cooperative and harmonious ways of living together. For people raised within the hyper- individualized paradigm or in settings where people come from diverse or even warring factions learning the subtleties of constructive and mutually beneficial interaction within a community setting may take a major effort. Rebuilding human community is an endeavour whose immense challenges should not be underestimated.
